Launched on October 21 2017, LAW is already celebrating a success – pressure from members, Branches and CLPs has forced Labour’s apparatchicks to revoke the expulsion of emeritus professor Moshé Machover, one of a long line of socialists and Corbyn supporters expelled or suspended on bogus charges of anti-Semitism.

The claim that anti-Semitism is rife in the Labour Party is untrue. It is a weapon the Right has consistently used against the Left. The ‘anti-Semitism’ smear campaign and witchhunt is used to block criticism of Israel’s settler-colonialism, its persecution of the Palestinians and its racist, apartheid practices. False anti-Semitism accusations are used to bolster support for Israel’s role in the Middle East. Israel receives more military aid from the USA than all the other countries in the world put together, over $4 billion a year.

As Jewish comedian Alexei Sayle told Sky TV –

 “Most of the people who have been suspended from the Labour Party for anti-Semitism seem to have been Jewish.“

This has nothing to do with anti-Jewish racism and everything to do with protecting Israel, the United State’s most reliable partner in the Middle East.

After Labour Party Conference, as a response to the advances of the Left, Iain McNicol, the Blairite general secretary of the Labour Party, was determined to restart the witchhunt. In particular Conference’s support for Jewish anti-Zionist speakers, the standing ovation for Corbyn’s references to Palestine, to say nothing of the Leader’s refusal to attend the Labour Friends of Israel fringe meeting, caused consternation in the Zionist ranks.

This was why Moshé Machover was expelled without even a hearing following patently false allegations of anti-Semitism. Moshé’s ‘offence’ as an academic was to cite the notorious Nazi, Reinhardt Heydrich in 1935 praising Zionism and the welcome that the Zionist movement, alone amongst German Jews, gave to the Nuremburg Laws.

The witchhunters gave as their reason for expelling Moshé his article published by Labour Party Marxists and speeches he had made at events organised by the Communist Party of Great Britain. There was no hearing, no process and no right of appeal. It was only a determined fightback which forced McNicol to back down.

The rule (2.1.4.B) under which Moshé was expelled is a bureaucrat’s dream – it could cover groups like Progress, Labour First, Compass and We Believe in Israel. But of course, over the past two years, it has been used exclusively to expel supporters of Jeremy Corbyn.

McNicol is now set upon expelling Tony Greenstein, Jackie Walker and Marc Wadsworth. Two of these are Jewish and two are Black. This is a good demonstration of the racist nature of the witchhunt.
